Introduction to Eve

Welcome to Ahnog's EVE page.  Eve is a Massive Multi-player Online Role Playing Game (MMORPG).  Currently Eve has about 300,000 subscribers.  All these subscribers play on the same server unlike other MMORPGs were servers typically host between 4,000 and 5,000 players.  It is not uncommon to find over 35,000 people online in EVE.

CCP, the company that developed and runs EVE, is based in Iceland.  Eve is truly a multi-national game.  Subscribers from all over the world play together from the USA to the UK, Australia, China, Russia, and many other nations.

Unlike other MMORPGs, you do not level your character in EVE, nor are you locked into a single class or role.  EVE is a "sandbox" where the player creates his own destiny.

Eve has a unique skill training system in which your character advances in skills even when you are offline.  However, unlike other MMORPGs, it is possible for a new player with few skills to defeat a long time player with many skills.  Certainly having more skills gives one an advantage, but which skills are in use at anyone time and personal ability are what makes the difference.

EVE is not a "yank and bank" first person shooter.  Combat in EVE is much more sophisticated.   There is both player versus player and player versus environment combat in EVE.

But combat is only one aspect of EVE.  Eve has a player driven market.  Items can be made from raw materials which in turn are mined from asteroids and moons.  So in EVE you can be a pilot, and/or an industrialist and/or a miner, and/or a scientist and many other roles.

Eve can be downloaded online.  It costs $14.95 a month to play, but you can try if for free for 14 days.  Visit EVE's website by clicking here.  Eve is a beautiful game.  Click here to see some screenshots.

Hope to see you online!  If you join Eve for the first time after reading my site give me shout in game (John Holt) and I will be happy to give you a little help getting started.
